Earthquake in the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad

13th February, 2008

On Wednesday afternoon 13th February at 4:06pm local time, an earthquake occurred in the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad. The preliminary location for the event is 10.32°N 62.26°W. The event was reported as felt widely in Trinidad including Chagaramas, Diego Martin, St. James, Barataria, Port of Spain, San Juan, Santa Cruz, Maracas Valley, St. Augustine, Tacarigua and San Fernando. There have been no reports of damage or injuries.

The picture to the left shows the location of the earthquake. The focal depth was approximately 4 km. The preliminary magnitude is 4.7. Earthquake East of Saint Lucia

4th February, 2008

On Saturday night 2nd February at 9:04 local time, an earthquake occurred about just east of Saint Lucia. The preliminary location for the event is 13.95°N 60.86°W. The event was reported as felt in Saint Lucia. There have been no reports of damage or injuries.

The focal depth was approximately 19 km. The preliminary magnitude is 3.6. Please note that these results are preliminary and may vary slightly when additional data is processed.
